Choir's Participation 2014

1.    “Perpetuum Mobile”, Moscow, Russia
Conductor: Mariia Kravcova



The vocal ensemble "Perpetuum mobile" was established in Cultural Centre of Bauman Moscow Technical State University in Spring 2005. Ensemble participants are students and postgraduate students of BMSTU.
The repertoire of "Perpetuum mobile" is quite various: from classical choral pieces up to adapted popular songs, variety and jazz turns and folksongs.
During its existence, it has become become:
an award winner of the IV Russian University Choir Festival “Gaudeamus” ( Udmurt State University, Votkintsk, 2006);
a recipient of Grand Prix of the X All-Russian Orchestral and Choral Assembly (Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, Khimki, 2011);
an award winner of the XII Moscow International Children’s and Youth Choir Festival “Moscow Sounds”  (Moscow, 2012);
an award winner of the III International Choir Festival “Chorus Inside Summer” (Chieti, Italy, 2012).
an award winner of the 1st EUROPEAN CHOIR GAMES (Graz, Austria, 2013)
Besides its participation in competitions and festivals "Perpetuum mobile" has regularly concerts on the stage of Cultural Centre of Bauman Moscow Technical State University and other choir events in Moscow.

2.    Arad choir, Arad, Israel
     Conductor: Ronen Ben David


The late Israeli composer, Joseph Hadar founded Arad Choir in 1974.The choir is operating under the local community Center in Arad. The Choir consists of 50 amateur singers. Its repertoire is based on Israeli folk songs and some international songs. It participates every year in a few national and municipal events, and also joins other Choirs and groups in musical conventions. The Choir performs in international festivals and to Jewish and other communities. They have given concerts in Switzerland, England, USA, France, Finland, Romania, Spain, Italy (several times),Portugal, San Marino and Fyrom.
The activity of the choir was one of the main factors for the establishment of “Hebrew Song Festival” that takes place in Arad every summer.
The Choir was lead by a few conductors over the years. Each added his unique flavor.


3.    Ladino Choir of Thessaloniki, Greece
    Conductor: Kostis Papazoglou


The Choir of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki was established in 1995 by members of our community. The need and hope of perpetuating the musical traditions which our progenitors brought with them from Spain 500 years ago, lead us to the creation of this choir. The repertoire is consisted mainly of Sefaraditika (Spanish and Jewish), Greek and Jewish songs. The choir has performed in the events of the Cultural Capital of Europe 1997  with “Sinfonietta Beograd” and in many different festivals all over Greece as well as in places abroad, such as Tel Aviv, FYROM, Vienna, Salzburg, in Sofia and Cairo, at the Synagogues of Constantinople and Budapest, concert which was broadcast live by a local TV channel. It has also cooperated with the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki as well as with the well-known singer Louisa Kone in the “Week dedicated to Albert Cohen” in Corfou. In 2008 it has recorded a CD of traditional Sephardic songs by EMI called "En la mar ay unatorre" with the music ensemble “Codex” while it has also performed for the TV100 and  the national TV channel 3. 

4.    Poprad Children’s Choir, Poprad, Slovakia
     Conductor: Blanka Richnavska


Poprad Children's Choir was founded in 1976. Founder and longtime conductor was Dr. Jozef Búda. The choir has won many awards at national and international competitions and festivals, 1stprize for European competition in Italy (1984), Bratislava Music Festival (1992, 1993, 1998),Festivals Europa Cantat Halle (1996, 2005), Wolfenbuttel (1999, 2005), Usedom (2000, 2008). In 1994 the choir attended the concert at the Vatican. The choir is cooperating with Slovak music composers for a long time (Hrušovský,Novák, Hatrík,Bodnár,etc.) The results of many years of cooperation with the State Chamber Orchestra were successful Christmas concerts and recordings of CD’s (Christmas carols, World evergreens, Ave Maria). Since September 2011 the artistic leader and conductor is Blanka Richnavská Dis.art. In that same year the choir attended the festival in Poland called "Summer Festival 2011” in Zakopane. In 2013 the choir won the 1st prize of the national competition and the prize for the best repertoire.

5.    “Pro Musica” Chamber Choir, Sfantu Gheorghe, Romania

The choir was founded in 1995. The members are teachers and undergraduates. The repertoire of the choir includes pieces of the universal choir literature, with a special emphasis on early and contemporary pieces.
The choir performs frequently and successfully, representing the Transilvanian choir movement both home and abroad:
1998: Hungary, Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey (International Choir Contest, Ankara, 3rd prize)
2002: Greece (International Choir Contest Preveza, silver medal)
2010:  Croatia (International Choir Contest Zadar, III. Prize)
2012: FYROM (International Choir Contest Ohrid, I. Prize)

6.    Saint Kirill and Methodius Church Choir, Ufa, Russia
     Conductor: Tatyana Goncharenko


The Cyril and Methodius Church Choir has been functioning since the first Divine Liturgy at the church still under construction in 1994. Tatyana Goncharenko has been its chanter since then. Most of the church singers are students of the Ufa State Arts Academy named after Zagir Ismagilov. It’s a reason of the periodical change of the choral staff.
The choir is mainly engaged in church singing but it also performs concerts and participates in charily undertakings. It has become a tradition for it to take part in Easter and Christmas Festivities as well as festivals devoted to Slavic Writing System and Culture Days, Feodor Shaliapin Birthdays and other memorial cultural events in Russia.
A wide range of spiritual music by Russian and west-european composers constitutes the repertoire of the choir. It also acquaints its listeners with the best pieces of spiritual music by modern Russian composers. The choir enjoys great popularity with its audience. The concert activity of the choir has been blessed by Mitropolit Nikon of Ufa and Sterlitamak.
In 2005 the choir under the leadership of Tatyana Goncharenko became a prizewinner of the all-Russia youth music and arts festival-contest “we shall be saved by love and unity” devoted to the 60th anniversary of victory in World War II and 625th anniversary of victory in the Kulikov battle (Moscow). Its chorus artistic director Tatyana Goncharenko got a diploma of merit “for her contribution to youth moral and cultural development and her professional mastership”. In 2007 the choir became Laureate of the international chorus festival-contest of sacred music “Musica Sacra Praga” (Prague, Czechia) winning the main prize. In 2011 the choir won Grand-prix at the all Russia festival-contest devoted to the memory of sacred music composer Michail Vinogradov. In 2012 the choir won Laureate of the 1st Florence International Choir Festival (gold medal in sacred music) and Laureate of the 3rd International Festival “Arzamas Cupolas” (Russia)

7.    Τhe Academic Choir of VSB Technical University, Ostrava, Czech Republic

The Academical choir of Technical University of VSB Ostrava has been established by students in 2007. This choir developed from Chamber Choir EXIL functioning at Pavel Tigrid Grammar School with Extended Language Teaching in Ostrava from 2000-2007. The chorus has won a number of awards, in Czech republic and abroad – e.g.: Choir Festival in Jihlava (Festival sborového umění Jihlava, 2011 and 2013), „Golden Belt“ (1st place) in International Contest Praga Cantat (2011) or „Silver Belt“ (2nd place) in Ohrid Choir Festival (FYROM, 2012). The choir has recorded 4 audio Cds.
Apart from concerts in Czech republic our chorus visits foreign countries (Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Argentina, FYROM, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, etc.). The Academical choir of Technical University of Ostrava often takes part in prestigious festivals and performs vocal-oratorio works (Dvorak's Te Deum, Petr Eben's Prager Te Deum, Janacek's Otcenas – Pater noster, Bach's Christmas Oratorium, etc.). In 2012 we presented Vytautas Miskinis's Light Mass (jazz mass) for the first time in Czech republic.

8.    The Youth’s Choir of The Metropolitan Cathedral “The Nativity of the Lord”, Chisinau, Moldova

The Youth Choir of the Metropolitan Cathedral,,The Nativity of the Lord” (Chisinau) was created  in 2002 with the support of His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova.
During its activity, the Choir sings regularly at the Holy Liturgies in the Metropolitan Cathedral and participates at Choral Music Events in Moldova and abroad.
The Youth Choir’s repertoire includes works signed by russian composers (Bortneanski, Sarti, Kastaliski, Lvovski, Cesnokov, Ceaicovski,  Flegmenko, Ippolitov-Ivanov, Sviridov etc.), bulgarian (Dinev, Dobri-Hristov), romanian (Dima, Musicescu, Popovici, Lungu, Cucu, Paşcanu, Spătărelu etc.), moldovan (Berezovshi, Ciolac, Mamotetc.), choral arrangements and anonymous works.
In the period of 2005 – 2006 the Choir went on a tour in different Holy placesof Greece and performed in several concerts of sacred music.
In 2006 they recorded the first CD which includes a beautiful repertoire of Christmas carols. In july 2013 they recorded the second CD of sacred music and Christmas Carols dedicated to the 200th  annivesary from the foundation of the Chisinau and Hotin Episcopy in Moldova.
On 7th January 2009, the Youth Choir presented in the Metropolitan Cathedral a musical-dramatic scene with the title The Nativity of Lord. The performance was recorded and included on a DWD.
In May 2012 the Choir participated at theInternational Orthodox Choral Music Festival in Poland,Byalistok where it took out the II Prize.
In June 2013, the Youth Choir performed at the International Church Music Festival  ″Святая Богородица - Достойно Есть″ (Bulgary, Pomorie) and was nominated for its ″Angelic Voices” and its various repertoire.
The choir is directed by Mrs. Fedora Burlac who obtained the Diploma of the Best Conductorat in the International Orthodox Choral Music Festival in Poland, in 2012.


9.    “Vocasoul” Choir, Ramat Hasharon, Israel
Conductor: Moshe Nir



The Vocasoul  choir is a newly organized choir that was developed as the result of the desire of singers from three different choirs to participate in the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival 2012.  All three choirs  share the same conductor, Moshe Nir.Singers from the choir have been performing in various choirs from 5-20 years.Each of the three choirs rehearse once a week with a rich and varied repertoire of various styles, including: Ethnic songs from around the world, classic, jazz, and especially songs of Israel , our homeland.
The singers have participated in many choral concerts and performed in various musical events.Vocasoul singers are recognized for their love of music and their commitment to performing.The musical arrangements in large have been written for the choir by their conductor, Moshe Nir. Pianist: Sharon Levy

10.  Τhe Children’s and Youth’s Spiritual Choir “Sophia”, Krasnoyarsk, Russia

Municipal spiritual children’s and youth choir “Sophia” was founded in 1991 with the blessing of the Krasnoyarsk and Yenisei archbishop. In 1994, at the initiative of the mayor of Krasnoyarsk the choir received the status of the Municipal Institution of Culture and was named as the spiritual children’s and youth choir. In 1997 it got the name - "Sophia", in honor of the icon “Sophia - Holy Wisdom” .
Purpose of the choir is the spiritual and moral education of children along with the revival and preservation of traditions of church and singing art.
During its existence, the choir became the winner of numerous competitions and festivals. Among them especially significant are: the VI, VII, IX International Festival of Orthodox Music (Moscow – the winner). The II International Brahms Competition (Germany, 2001 – the winner); Orthodox Festival in Spain (2002); "The International Choir Competition named after Y. Falik "The Singing World" (St. Petersburg 2012 – the laureate); The V International Choral Festival "Sacred Music in Rome" (Rome, 2013 – the silver medal).
Musical figures from abroad, Siberia and Russia cooperate with "Sophia". Also, known Siberian composers have written many works specially for "Sophia", for example Vladimir Ponomarev, the winner of the All-Russian Sacred Music Festival-Competition and Dmitry Vasyanovich, the winner of the All-Russian Competition of Young Composers.
Its main activity is accompanying church services in the cathedrals of Krasnoyarsk.  Regarding this "Sophia" carries the title of bishop's children's choir. 

11.  “Oriana” Youth’s Female Choir, Odessa, Ukraine

Youth female choir Oriana is an amateur choir, which was founded in 2008. The choir exists and takes action with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Centre. Its repertoire includes folklore pieces, classical choral works, sacred as well as contemporary music. Its aim is the revival and maintenance of the rich Ukrainian traditional of choral singing.
In its 5 year of existence, the choir has:
Visited 8 countries and 15 cities.
Participated in 15 international competitions and won 12 first prizes.
Given more than 100 concerts.
Given the chance to more than 5000 people to listen to Ukrainian music.

In the last year, the choir has participated in the International Festival ‘’Two days and two nights of new music 2014’’ in Odessa, while in January it participated in the Festival  ‘’Christmas stories ‘’in corporation with solοists and the orchestra of the Odessa National Opera and The Ballet Theater.


            12 .  «Makriyannis» Choir of Arta, Greece
 Conductor: Theodoros Grammatikopoulos



The choir was founded on 1980 by people who love music and wish to contribute to the cultural development of the region.The choir’s repertoire consists of the preclassical works as well as pieces of contemporary Greek Composers and folklore songs.
Apart from its many concerts locally, it has also participated in numerous choral festivals has obtained excellent reviews by specialists of choral art. It has taken part on lots of concerts not only in Greece but also abroad (Germany, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Norway, Switzerland, Hungary, Cyprus and Turkey). Lately it participated in he 13th Choral Festival of Drama as well as in other Greek choral Festivals (Andros, lefkas, Sparta, Nafpaktos, Velvendo, kozani and Karystos).The mixed choir is one of the basic parts of the Cultural Society and keeps working eagerly for the cultural development of choral art in Greece.

13.  Children’s Choir “Armonia” of Preveza, Greece
      Conductor: Anelia Stefanova


The children’s choir was founded in 1983 by the conductor Andronikos Kourouklis with aim of promoting the choral idea in the people of Preveza and preparing a choral school of members suitable for the mixed choir. From 1983 to 1990 the choir was directed by Stavros Solomos, from 1990 to 1994 by Valentin Stefanov and from 1994 till today it has been directed by Mrs. Anelia Stefanova. During its existence, the choir has been awarded two first, two second and two third prizes in International choral competitions and it has also been awarded twice as the best Greek children’s choir in the International choral festival of Athens. They have cooperated with the chamber orchestra of the city Gabrovo in Bulgaria for the performance of the work “Stabat Mater” by G.B. Pergolesi, with the orchestra of the Patmos festival in the work “Missa Brevis” by Leo Delibes and with the national orchestra of Athens in the work ”Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff.


14.  Youth’s Choir “Armonia” of Preveza, Greece

The Youth section was created in Autumn 2009 by a group of young choristers, aged 16-27 years, former members of the children’s choir. They have performed many times in Greece (Preveza, Agrinio, Ioannina) while in October 2010 they participated in the International choral Festival of Pineda del Mar in Spain. In September 2011, the choir gave concerts in Kazanlac and Filippoupoli in Bulgaria while in September 2011 they realized a concert of Christmas songs. The choir’s repertoire includes Greek sophisticated and traditional songs as well as modern works of foreign composers. 

15.  Mixed Choir “Armonia” of Preveza, Greece
Conductor: Valentin Stefanov


It was founded in 1969 by a group of Preveza’s choristers with love for choral music and with the aim of promoting choral music in our small provincial city. Since then our choir has traced a brilliant march both in cultural events in our country, & abroad.
Great landmarks in its history:
In 1977,  it collaborates with the well-known Greek Composer, Yannis Markopoulos, performing,  in first world implementation, the work of «Besieged in Liberty» in verses from our National Poet, Dionisios Solomos.
In 1983, it founds the INTERNATIONAL CHORAL FESTIVAL OF PREVEZA, an event with great cultural offer in our country until now.
In 1995, it also founds the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION of SACRED  MUSIC, where more than 1500 choristers from all the world participate annually
In 1999 in collaboration with the musical ensembles of National Radio – Television (E. R. T.) it performed, in first world implementation,the Greek masterpiece «A Hymn to Freedom» in music of Nikolaos Mantzaros and in verses from our National Poet, Dionisios  Solomos.
In 31/12/1999, it participated in the events for the MILLENNIUM on the Acropolis, which were transmitted by satellite to the whole world by the Greek Television.
In 2000 was nominated as the Best Hellenic Choir of the Year 2000, in the Theatre Palace of Music in Athens in the frames of the 8th International Choral Festival of Athens.
In 2006, it participated in the events for the 250 years of the birth of W. A. Mozart in Mozarterum in Salzburg of Austria
In 2011, Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff  at the Syros International Music Festival under the direction of Mr. Peter Tiboris
In 2012, in collaboration with the National Orchestra of Athens and the Municipal Choir of Corfu  it performed, under the direction of Mr Vasilis Christopoulos, the masterpiece «Carmina Burana» in music of Carl Orff at Corfu .


All these years of its existence the choir has earned 8 first prizes, 4 gold medals, 5 second prizes, 8 silver medals, 3 third prizes and 7 bronze medals at competitions all around the world. The choir have visited for performances lots of Greek cities and also at abroad (Ireland, Sweden, France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Bulgaria, Libya, Turkey and Cyprus).
